A Cool Miracle

For your information, Elder Loveless turns 20 on May 31st.

On Mothers Day, Elder Loveless called us at 4:00 PM from the Church. It was very good to talk to him! He did not have a time limit to talk to us. When we were done, we thought maybe it had been an hour that we had talked with him. We looked at the clock and it was 6:30! We had talked with him for 2 and a half hours.

Here is his e-mail for this week, written a day after we had talked on the phone:

Dear familia,

Well i didnt think i would have much to write after we got to call home yesterday, but i do have something. Right after i finished our call, i went to play the piano for a bit (i can only play follow the prophet, but i do have it memorized ) anyways, we heard a knock on the door of the church, and there was a guy standing there. He asked if our minister was there. Well the bishop wasn't there. So we took him down to the bishop's house, and it turned out he wanted to know more about our Church, so we got his number, and set up an appointment with him for Tuesday. It was pretty exciting, because if I had talked to you for anything less than 2 and a half hours, we wouldn't have been there :) So i guess i was supposed to talk to you for that long! That was a cool miracle, and im excited to see what happens. Have a great week. Not much else to write. Thanks for the awesome call!

Elder Loveless wrote home last week with some actual, physical letters to various of us. In one, he shares these accounts:

Last Sunday, we learned that one of our investigators (who is married to a member) got in an accident and died. It was kind of shocking.
Today we had a really good lesson with an investigator named Roy. He, too, is in a part-member family situation. We went over with the bishop, and he addressed directly the problems Roy has been having. Roy brought up that he wants to be baptized, but wants to completely stop his bad habits. (Chewing tobacco.) Roy also brought up a scripture that I brought up about 3 visits ago. The scripture is Moroni 7:11-12 – “For behold, a bitter fountain cannot bring forth good water; neither can a good fountain bring forth bitter water; wherefore, a man being a servant of the devil cannot follow Christ; and if he follow Christ he cannot be a servant of the devil.
“Wherefore, all things which are good cometh of God; and that which is evil cometh of the devil; for the devil is an enemy unto God, and fighteth against him continually, and inviteth and enticeth to sin, and to do that which is evil continually.”
This scripture is one I really like to use with people who need to over-come things. But he remembered it and brought it up. He's an amazing man and we are praying for him to progress and change his heart. He's already on the pathway to do that. So that's exciting.
