Last E-Mail From Nauvoo

Hola from Nauvoo! This past week has been very fun. Everything is now "the last time for:" so its exciting to have everything getting wrapped up. The weather has been a little Bizare. Yesterday was supposedly the Hottest day of the year since 2005, and it was pretty hot. But then before sunset, a huge rain storm came through and really cooled it down. This week the Hardys have fixed us things like hamburgers, funeral potatoes, spaghetti, mashed potatoes. The usual amazingly delicious meals.

ooooh before i forget, our flights should come in to salt lake around 7:15, from Phoenix, so thats when i will be in.

On Sunday, we were working in the Seventies hall, and we had 5 tours come through. So we were reading most of the time. It was a very fun place to be, especially since that is where missionaries were called and trained from. after that we went to the Willard Richards home, its now a Bed and breakfast, but we got a tour through it. its a pretty big house. but the best part is, there is a wine cellar that was added onto the house after the Saints left. and it is made entirely of Temple blocks, so we sang a song in there. Its a really cool place, that a lot of people dont get to see.

Monday we had the talent show there were a ton of bugs out side, they would dive bomb out of the air and land on the stage. I played the Beversdorf Horn sonata, it went well. The stage elders did a version of Party in the USA, which was very funny. It was a very good show and the crowed loved it (of course they were mostly senior couple missionaries.)

Today we went to the temple, I did baptisms, and then me and some of the other Endowed Elders did sealings. That was a great experience. Then we went back to the entrance and we got a special tour of the tower of the temple. Its a great view from up there, and makes you realize how big that temple really is, and how much work would have gone into the original, especially with their limited technology.

Well the our time in Nauvoo is almost over. My parting thoughts as I get ready to leave Nauvoo: I'll miss Nauvoo, but I'm onto another mission. For everybody leaving Nauvoo, it feels like we are the ones going down Parley's Street and leaving Nauvoo behind. I think it will be like that for all of us too. It's been the best Summer ive ever had, doing something i would not trade for anything. This certainly has been the best experience i could have for preparation for my mission. I never thought back in November when i recorded my audition DVD what this even was. Nauvoo is one of my most favorite places on earth now. And just like the Saints who had to leave, i must too. Its part of the Nauvoo Experience -- leaving this city behind. (Except I will probably come back.) I would like to encourage anybody who plans to come to Nauvoo, that they must open their heart when they come and take in as much as they can, and after that they will be grateful for the lives of the Saints who lived here and for their own lives. Nauvoo is a great place, and i can say its made me better then before. We are always told to remember Nauvoo, and how can you not? Its such a great place, and i will miss it.
