We have an excerpt from the e-mail for last week which was delayed until the next day.
Dear family
First off about our baptisms, they went Awesome they were so powerful. Fist we had the baptism for Felicitas, and that went great, Elder hernandez baptised her. we had a lot of members there. Then about 2 hours later we had the baptism for Alicia, and it went smooth too, i baptized her. so in church alicia was confirmed. but Felicitas got sick, and couldnt make it....so we are going to confirm her this coming sunday. But she is way strong, she is one of the most awesome people i have met.
Now here is his e-mail for this week:
Dear Familia...
what a week! Felicitas was confirmed yesterday, and is a great addition to the ward. She has a very strong testimony. She even fed us this week, twice....stuffed pepper, and tortilla soup. All of the members are very nice to her, and fellowshipping her and Alicia very well.
Me and elder Lawson have been working hard this week to find more people to start teaching. One of our Zone goals is to double the baptisms in this area by march. its going to be very hard, but i know that we can get it done when we put in the work. we have found some pretty nice new investigators this week, and hoping that they will progress towards baptism.
(The new companion, Elder Lawson, from Michigan, and he's got 10 months on his mission.)
I tought english classes last Tuesday. we had about 14 people there, and only one was a member. so we split that class up, and i took 5 people and taught them. It was very exciting and got me more excited about the classes. They are all very sincere, and curious about us being missionaries. So we are hoping for some investigators from this...that we can just teach right there in the church. Its a great program for finding people, too bad alot of the people are in elder Rusks area. :) but we are getting alot of calls from people.
I'm leaning Spanish....even more now. Every house we knock is pretty much Spanish, and so we are teaching alot in Spanish. We are knocking alot to find people. And its working. This past week was a bit cold, the wind was about 25 degrees. And we tracked for about 2 hours in that. I was wearing my gym pants under my suit, and a sweater. But now it warmed up again.
(He loves this place, it's like little Mexico.)
We are having a bit of a hard time right now. The Hermana Valencia is a bit sick, and so its very hard to see them, and im wondering what to do about helping her progress. But we are recieving alot of help, we just have to keep the spirit with us, and we will be blessed and directed. I know that that is the most important part of the work. Also keeping a good attitude which i am working at. But we are having fun, and working hard..
(Elder Loveless covered his bike in electrical tape so it wouldn't get stolen. (Let's hope he still wants to ride it!)
I know that this is the work of the lord. This transfer is going to streatch me in many ways. But im ready for it. this area has a lot of potential. and i know that through faith in the Lord, that this work can move forward, we just have to put in our time, and our work, then the lord through us, will do great things.
